Previously I made a video explaining how to create a Power BI report from scratch. Following that, I made another video explaining Power Query, one of the most important Power BI components.
People often compare Power BI with Tableau. Each has its own merits. At this moment, I believe that one of the biggest advantages of Power BI over Tableau is its Power Query capabilities. Power Query makes ETL easy. Also, its functions and platform are similar to Excel. Thus, users can learn it quickly. Though Tableau can do ETL, complex ones need to be done on Tableau Prep, which is a separate App from Tableau Desktop. Also, the ETL process on Tableau Prep looks more complex than that via Power Query due to Power Query's similarity to Excel.
Power Query also exists in Excel. It is a game-changer for companies that allow staff to access broad business data through databases or API. It dramatically reduces the time to prepare and clean data for daily work. If you are still using the regular Excel functions to do the routine tasks while your company provides great data access, you should start to google Power Query now.
